International Bird Day Festival
DESCRIPTION: International Bird Day Festival

DETAILS: Join Site staff for the first annual International Migratory Bird Day! Celebrated all over the world, people come together to learn about wild birds, including conservation and habitat restoration, as well as have fun! Activities will include naturalist-led bird watching hikes through Sower’s Woods, an opportunity to bird by kayak, information on birding hotspots in the area, protecting backyard birds, Soarin’ Hawk and special bird crafts.

The festival will reach out to local birders, new and old to share information on what we can do to prevent injuries to birds, feed them and learn the tricks to being a great birder. There will be a birding by kayak event prior to the festival starting at 7am and reservations are required for this portion of the event. Other happenings at the event include a few talks, Soarin’ Hawk and their birds of prey, activities for the kids and an afternoon hike through the adjacent Sower’s Woods.

The International Migratory Bird Day Festival is $3 per person. Please call 260.854.3790 to make your reservation for the kayak portion of the event. Tours of Gene Stratton-Porter’s Cabin in Wildflower Woods will be available this day for an additional fee. All event proceeds are used for educational programming, maintenance and restoration of Gene’s gardens and for future special events at the Site.
