Perhaps the most challenging aspect of Economic Development in any community is the job of getting business owners and citizens to comprehend what is involved. The EDAC is in the process of gathering documents and interviewing various agencies and organizations in and around Northern Indiana, The State of Indiana, and the Federal Government in order to assemble a document we will call "THE BEGINNER'S GUIDE TO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: What is it?"
This document will be published on the Kendallville Chamber website as a downloadable PDF and will assist business owners, entrepreneurs, and various organizations with how to tap into economic development resources which can help them achieve their financial and business goals.
What does that mean?
For example, if I wanted to start a business and needed help developing a business plan, I could use this guide as a roadmap to the WHO and WHERE to go for help. Or perhaps a business is wanting to hire more employees or expand their facilities, what resources are available to assist in the training or costs involved in such expansion.
Stay tuned for our official release of this guide and in the mean time, if you have questions, don't hesitate to contact any EDAC members.
