Trustees
Citizens of Kendallville reside in
one of four township, with the greatest portion of our population in
Wayne and Allen Townships. Those living to the north of Drake Road (CR
600 N) are in Wayne Township, while residents south of Drake Road are in
Allen Township. Orange Township lies northwest of town while Jefferson
Township lies southwest. County Road 600 East is the boundary.

City Government
Kendallville is governed by an
elected mayor and five city council members. The city clerk-treasurer
assists them in carrying out the responsibilities of governing the
people. The Mayor and other city departments may be found at City Hall
at 234 S. Main Street.

The Kendallville Police Department
is comprised of 18 full time officers which includes two detectives, and
three shift supervisors, all under the supervision of the Chief of
Police. Thirteen full time reserve officers are authorized as of this
writing. The Police Department is an active participant within the
community and offers many programs of interest to our citizens. Included
among them are drug awareness seminars, personal safety classes for
women, robbery prevention techniques for businesses and, most recently,
dealing with bio-hazardous issues. Our Police Department welcomes the
opportunity to speak to any group at any time, and are a vital part of
the health of our community.
A dedicated team of 10 full-time and
numerous reserve and volunteer firefighters operating from two stations
protect citizens and businesses of Kendallville. Two deputy fire chiefs
operate under the direction of the Fire Chief. The Department is
equipped with two pumper trucks, a rescue unit, two grass trucks, a
4,500 gallon tanker, 75' & 102' aerial trucks, and a mobile incident
command center. The city has a fire insurance rating of 5.
Emergency Medical Services are
provided by highly trained and dedicated Paramedics and Emergency
Medical Technicians.
Kendallville Publishing Company has
been publishing the news of our city since 1863. Still a family-owned
business on Main Street in downtown, KPC publishes The News Sun seven
days a week and maintains a website at
www.fwdailynews.com, which features an on-line edition of the daily
news.
Kendallville’s own radio station, WAWK, broadcasts from a 250-watt
transmitter and can be found at 1140-AM. Dating back to 1953, WAWK keeps
our citizens informed and entertained.
